Flight disruption of this magnitude not seen since Sept. 11, 2001

LONDON - An ash cloud from Iceland's spewing volcano halted air traffic across a wide swathe of Europe on Thursday, grounding planes on a scale unseen since the 2001 terror attacks as authorities stopped all flights over Britain, Ireland, France and the Nordic countries.

Oh it has affected a lot of people, not just travellers, in many ways..
What about exporters and other business people whose shipments are lying idle, and scattered across the globe, in transit to Europe or the Continental United States?

I for one have been hit pretty badly. i am an exporter, and had booked a Air Shipm4ent to Canada, last week on the 9th. of April. The shipment is lying at New Delhi, waiting for Air India to get clearance to resume / start flights to Europe, so that the shipment can be carried, and onward to Toronto..

Hi to all. I'm looking at this incident far beyond the practical inconvenience caused. This reminds me of how vulnerable we are towards nature. Cyclones, floods, earthquakes, sunami, tornado, and now volcano.
Till now who has been able to control any of them???

The power of networking in a time of crisis...

"Facebook, Twitter, web forums and word of mouth connected more bus passengers with the ride to France, Bill said. "We found people all trying to do the same thing and work together."

HOME SWEET HOME.

ERNIE, The Earth is not that FLAT after all. I even explored options of taking a LOOOOOOOOONG Trans-Atlantic cruise thanks to the tongue-twister ICELAND VOLCANO,,,,

What impact will this have on the FUTURE of TRAVEL ?
