This was made public by the Secretary Tourism (Uttarakhand State) in his Vote of Thanks at the Adventure Tour Operator's Association's annual convention at Dehradun on the 17th Jan. The Nanda Devi Snow Carnival to be held from 6th to 8th March on the magnificent ski slopes of Auli, beginning this year, will be a precursor and testing ground for the SAF Winter Games planned for December 2009. Artificial snow making machines have been placed on the spanking new ski slope nect to Clifftop Club, a private hotel at Auli and an artificial lake has also been dug next to the resort that will supply the water to make enough snow to be thrown on the ski slopes in the event of no snowfall. An olympic sized ice skating rink (artificial ice) is under constructionat Dehradun and a similar event...the Ice Carnival is scheduled to be held at Dehradun in the month of May. An ice hockey team from Ladakh is also invited for a demo. Watch out for festivites at India's first Snow Carnival at Auli from 6th to 8th March, 2009!!
